How It All Began
You spend long days (even nights) wearing scrubs, so why shouldn’t they be as comfy as your Saturday morning sweats? That’s the question founder of Milana, Danny Maalouf, kept asking himself after noticing his wife, a nurse practitioner, spend tireless hours caring for others all while donning dull, uncomfortable and slouchy scrubs.
His background in fashion definitely taught him one thing: the right outfit can make all the difference in how people feel about themselves. Before working at some of the biggest names in Canadian fashion, Danny spent his early years watching his parents create patterns, cuts, and designs through the family fashion label, imparting the importance of using the proper fabrics and designing the just-right fit for every piece of clothing. After all, people dress for success in so many different industries — so why not medical? Allowing healthcare workers access to uniforms which follow the latest trends is just one-way Milana is providing for those in healthcare to feel their best while they care for others.
Thus, that’s how Milana was born. Inspired by and named after his two children Milan and Lana, Danny is on a mission to revamp the standard scrub and medical garb, transforming it into wearable styles that feel lightweight and go beyond anything else on the market today.
